SocialICE crowds break a record

If you enjoyed SocialICE last week, chances are you were part of a crowd.

The Rochester Downtown Alliance says the event broke a record for attendance with an estimated 51,500 people attending the event. It was held downtown in the Peace Plaza last week Thursday through Saturday.

Many of the people who came to check out the cool ice sculptures and ice bars spent some cash downtown. The RDA estimates the economic impact of the 3-day event was more than 1.8 million dollars.

Jenna Bowman, the RDA Executive Director says, "SocialICE 2018 confirmed that there is a strong desire to enjoy the outdoors during the winter."

Plans are already in the works for next year.
