Bloom Tower project set to clear first city hurdle

Posted:
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -

The journey to construct Rochester's tallest skyscraper to date continues tonight at the city planning and zoning commission meeting.

The Bloom Riverfront Towers project seeks it's initial conditional use permit tonight, as the Abu Dhabi based company seeks to build two towers along the banks of the Zumbro at 4th St. SE.

Plans call for A 21-story senior housing complex and a 28-story hotel, restaurant, and retail space with close to 500 parking stalls.

City staff recommend an approval of the permit with conditions. This is just the first hurdle for the project, which may be completed by 2020.
