PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (NBC/KTTC) -

The U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey squad opens competition in PyeongChang Wednesday, February 14th against Team Slovenia.

Team USA is competing in Group "B" alongside Russia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

There may be lower expectations for the team in South Korea, as it's a collection of college players and former NHL players now playing in Europe.

Team USA Forward Garrett Roe played his college hockey at St. Cloud State in Minnesota.

His most recent team was EV Zug, a professional men's ice hockey team from Zug, Switzerland.

"It's something you dream of, two things, growing up in North America. I's playing in the NHL and playing in the Olympics. I came up short on one of them at the moment but second one is coming through right now, and it's a surreal experience," Roe told NBC.
