Sen. Nelson proposes campus neutrality bill to address free speech at universities

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KTTC) -

Should politicians be able to pass legislation enforcing political neutrality on college campuses?

State Senator Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) believes the answer to that question is yes.

She plans to introduce a "Campus Neutrality Bill" in St.Paul Friday that she says would preserve "political impartiality and free speech" on university campuses.

This comes as certain speakers from both sides of the aisle have received push back from students for speaking on campus, both in Minnesota and around the country. Senator Nelson will have students from the University of Minnesota and St. Olaf with her explaining why they believe the bill is needed.
