Charges in drug deal case involving bitcoin

FOREST CITY, Iowa (KTTC) -

A Forest City, Iowa man accused of selling and shipping drugs to students in Ohio using bitcoin and the dark web is now charged in the case.

42-year-old Anthony Scott Boeckholt was arrested on January 29th at his home.

He is charged with Engaging in a pattern of Corrupt Activity.

Investigators were led to Boeckholt after two college students were arrested in Athens, Ohio for drug trafficking.

While questioning, police found out how they used the cryptocurrency bitcoin to make transactions.

The communications with the drug dealer turned up evidence for the search warrants and arrest in Iowa.
