Gamehaven Council Boy Scouts hosts Values Breakfast

The Gamehaven Council Boy Scouts of America kicked off their Friends of Scouting campaign Thursday morning.

The breakfast event was attended by local leaders in public office and business.

Over 120 people attended, all of which support the program either as volunteers or through their generous donations.

One of the key note speakers was Ben Tilson from Tilson's Automotive, a company that was awarded "Small business of the year."

Tilson discussed the values of hard work and leadership, something the boy scouts can fully understand.

Other attendees included Rochester Mayor Brede, Senator Carla Nelson, and John Wade.

This comes during a time of change for the Scouts, as they welcome the new executive/CEO Jason Dugan and prepares to welcome girls into the Cub Scouts in 2018.

Girls have often participated in scouting activities in the past, but the move is also a response to busy families looking for a "one-stop shop" that will include everyone.

The decision to allow girls into cub scouts was made by the family of scouting, a national board that voted on the motion in October 2017.
