Sex trafficking sting operation ahead of Super Sunday

Posted:
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KTTC) -

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigators set up a sting operation in the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

Undercover agents spoke with potential suspects, then arrested those suspects at arranged meeting places.

Most are from the Twin Cities area.

36 people in all were booked for felony solicitation of a minor, and seven were arrested for sex trafficking, promotion of prostitution.

The BCA says 14 women were rescued from trafficking situations.

“This operation represents our collective commitment to eradicate sexual exploitation in our communities and to rescue those being trafficked in our state,” said BCA Superintendent Drew Evans.

The operation is the work of the Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force.

That organization is lead by the BCA with investigators from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Paul and Minneapolis police departments, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office.
