ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) -

A 19-year-old Albert Lea man has been charged with domestic assault by strangulation after being arrested this past weekend.

Freeborn County court documents show Dakota Edwards, 19, was arrested late Friday night after allegedly choking a woman during an argument. Documents indicate Edwards also threatened to kill her and broke a number of items in her home.

The victim said she did not lose consciousness but did have marks on the side of her neck.

Edwards also faces an additional charge of domestic assault and a charge of 911 interference.

His next court appearance is scheduled for February 15.
