Pepsi-Co back-tracks after 'Lady Doritos' idea

(CNN) -

Pepsi-Co's idea to make a crunchless chip for women has not gone over so well.

In a recent interview with Freakonomics Radio, CEO Indra Nooyi said Frito-Lay is looking at ways to develop chips she called "women-friendly", which have less audible crunch and don't leave residue on fingers.

The response on social media was swift and critical, causing Pepsi-Co to do some back-tracking.

The company tweeted "We already have Doritos for women, they're called Doritos and they're loved by millions." They also re-tweeted a post by Ad-Age saying 'lady Doritos' are not being developed.
