UPDATE: 1 suspect arrested in Rochester Cold Stone robbery, police say

UPDATE: An arrest has been made after an armed robbery at the Cold Stone Creamery on South Broadway.

Rochester police say 18-year-old Keshawn Howell was arrested late Tuesday morning at his sister's home in Southeast Rochester. Police say around 8:30 Monday night, Howell and another man showed employees a handgun and demanded money.

The suspects took a small amount of cash from the register and then drove off in a silver car. Police found what turned out to be a pellet gun in the snow nearby.

Police are continuing to search for the second suspect who, they say, carried the gun.

PREVIOUS STORY: Police are searching for two men connected to an armed robbery of a Cold Stone Creamery on South Broadway in Rochester.

It happened just after 8:30 Monday night.

Police say two men entered and demanded money from the employees after brandishing a handgun.

They took a small amount of cash from the register, and unsuccessfully tried to get money from the safe.

RPD Captain Sherwin says the two escaped by heading north on foot before leaving in a silver colored car.

When police arrived, they found the weapon ditched in the snow nearby.

It turned out to be a pellet gun.

One of the men is described by the witnesses as a six-foot tall clean-shaven black male with a deep voice appearing to be about 18 years old. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with the strings pulled tight around his face.

The other suspect carried the gun, and was described as a Hispanic male between five foot six and five foot seven wearing a dark, possibly dark blue, sweatshirt with the hood up. He also had a black bandana with white print covering half his face.

There were only two female employees working at the Cold Stone. One was 16, and the other was 59.
