There's a pair of new "King Bees" in Austin.

Two Ellis Middle School students will head to Rochester in February after winning a spelling bee contest in Austin on Thursday.

The annual Austin Public Schools District Spelling Bee took place at the school's auditorium. Fifth through eighth grade students competed.

Ellis seventh grader Darryl Wilson came in second place while eighth grader Caden Strampe came in first.

The word he spelled correctly to take home the title was "mandible."

"Well, to be honest, I started reading before I was two, I think.  And I'm really just shocked at how smart I am myself,"  said Caden.

The two boys will go on to the regional competition in Rochester on February 13th. If they do well enough there, they will move on to the state spelling bee.
