Lyle raises funds for cancer cure

LYLE, Minn. (KTTC) -

The community of Lyle is getting together to support a good cause.

The community turned out over the weekend for the 39th annual Lyle Area Cancer Auction.

Items were auctioned off at the local American Legion Saturday. Money raised will go to the 5th District Eagles out of Rochester. Funds will eventually make their way to organizations such as the University of Minnesota and the Hormel Institute.

"Everybody needs to come down and check this thing out. I've said it for many, many, many, many years just come and check this thing out because it is a lot of fun. It gets crazy down here. We have a lot of fun and there's a lot of nice stuff that's donated," said Larry Ricke, the Co-Chair of the Lyle Area Cancer Auction.

Auction officials said in the last 38 years, the event has raised $2,600,000.

This year's event has already raised more than $56,000.
