46th Annual Minneapolis Boat Show brings out hundreds dreaming of summer

When the weather outside looks like how it did on Thursday, many prefer to remember the dog days of summer.

And that's exactly what folks are doing at the Minneapolis Convention Center this weekend for the Boat Show.

It's a yearly tradition for many, to take a break from dealing with the below zero temperatures, and pretend like you're soaking up the sun.

It really helps a group of twin cities fire fighters we caught up with.

"We make a trip out every year out to the boat show just to walk around and look at all the boats and think about what we might be doing in the next couple of months," one of the firefighters said.

Being cooped up inside all winter can take its toll.

For the people who come out here being out on the water is a nice way to relax.

So seeing all those boats under the same roof, it's kind of like a pick-me-up.

"That's my happy place you could say, so the ability to just get away and away from all the chaos that is every day life," Derek Ogren, one of the attendees, said.

And the boat show gives people an idea of how they might want to spend their summer.

"Everything we're doing that this winter, we're planning about which kid is going to enjoy this, which grandchildren, which one of our nephews are going to really like this," Jane Haubrich, another attendee, said.

After all, we have to power through many more months of snow and cold, before we can get to days on the lake.
