The Holiday Train arrived in Rochester to help support food banks

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train made a stop in Rochester Tuesday afternoon to help re-stock food banks.

Hosted by CAKE, or Caring Acts of Kindness Everywhere, the Holiday Train aims to reduce hunger and support food banks.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train arrived at the end of 16th Avenue NW next to the Barlow Hy-Vee grocery store.

And it came with entertainment, singing, dancing and Santa Claus!

The Holiday Train also presented the Channel One Regional Food Bank with a $10,000 check.

People were encouraged to bring non-perishable healthy food to donate and help re-stock food banks.

According to the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train, millions of people across North America use food banks to make ends meet every month.

Some healthy donation recommendations included grain products, canned vegetables and fruit, milk, yogurt and canned beans.

Good thing we're tough--here we go again.  Another round of snow with a chance of sleet and freezing rain is moving in to southeast Minnesota and northern Iowa Saturday afternoon. In the calm before the storm, a lot of people were out on Saturday morning enjoying the snow on the trees or getting in a little ice fishing.
