Tuesday slippery commute leads to crashes

The Tuesday morning commute was slippery. Fresh snow with a layer of frozen rain beneath it, combined with strong winds, made perfect conditions for crashes.

We sent NewsCenter crews to two early morning accidents.

Around 3:30 a.m., the driver of a semi truck was northbound on Highway 52, when the rig jackknifed just north of Oronoco.
The accident shut down the left lane of Highway 52 north, while responders and tow operators worked to clear the scene.

Around 6 a.m., at least two vehicles were involved in a crash on northbound Highway 52, right before the 65th Street NW exit. A pickup truck sustained significant damage and shut down at least two lanes. A sedan was crashed near the 65th Street exit.

The state patrol and Rochester Fire established a perimeter around the wreckage as they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

Similar accidents were reported around the area.
