Police: Home invader hits the wrong apartment

Posted:
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -

A bizarre and apparently botched home invasion occurred on Sunday night.

Inside an apartment complex on the 600 block of East Center Street, a neighbor reported seeing someone enter an apartment they knew was vacated.

The suspect was a young black woman, between her late teens and early twenties, wearing a Vikings jacket. Police said the person of interest had shoulder length hair, was about 5 feet tall and appeared to weigh about 100 pounds. While officers were talking to the neighbor, they said they believed the woman was under the influence.

The neighbor also told officers that when they confronted her, the suspect said she was "Looking for her girl" before getting into a dark colored minivan. Inside, a message was found written in glue on a pillow. It said, "I gonna kill you" with an expletive.

Authorities also found Turpentine poured all over the kitchen with the stove turned on.

Police said the person the suspect was looking for had actually already moved out. The landlord was the most recent tenant, who was refurbishing the unit.

Good thing we're tough--here we go again.  Another round of snow with a chance of sleet and freezing rain is moving in to southeast Minnesota and northern Iowa Saturday afternoon. In the calm before the storm, a lot of people were out on Saturday morning enjoying the snow on the trees or getting in a little ice fishing.
