Rochester woman tries to reconnect with Christmas tree skirt after accidentally donating it

Posted:
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -

As the holiday season rolls around, many go into the attic to find all their decorations.

For one Rochester family, that led to an upsetting revelation. Their long-time family Christmas tree skirt was gone.

Char Floryance handmade the skirt many years ago because of her love for cross-stitching. She said last year when they put away all the decorations, the tree skirt was put in the wrong box. Her husband accidentally donated it to the salvation army last week.

"My husband went right away to check and I called and talked to the manager and she told me they only had one tree left, but they had like five boxes and he said it wasn't in there," Floryance said. "I said well if they open that up and see that  I'm sure somebody would have wanted it right away, so I'd really love to get it back."

KTTC called the Salvation Army Store where it was donated. They said this happens all the time, but items are rarely recovered.

If you have the skirt and would like to give it back, feel free to email us at news@kttc.com.

In the calm before the storm, a lot of people were out on Saturday morning enjoying the snow on the trees or getting in a little ice fishing.
