Wolves flounder versus Hornets, lose 118-102

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (KTTC) -

The Minnesota Timberwolves lost a close game to Detroit 100-97 on Sunday, and then they lost 118-102 to Charlotte on Monday, as they let a let a four point deficit expand to 16 as the offense and defense couldn't make things happen in their second-straight loss.

Positives:

1. Jamal Crawford had a big game off of the bench, scoring 19 points in his 18 minutes. Crawford went 6-12, and 6-6 from the free throw line, but only 1-5 from three. Crawford's effort was a part of a 40-point night for the Wolves' bench.

2. Jeff Teague made a big impact defensively, as he stole the ball three times and blocked three shots, as well as scoring 18 points on 7-18 shooting.

3. The Wolves also limited themselves to only 11 turnovers, while forcing 17 turnovers by the Hornets.

Negatives:

Now you'll notice this half of the recap is a bit longer as there were severe negatives in this game.

1. The Wolves defense did force 17 turnovers, but other than that they didn't do much else, especially defending Dwight Howard. The Wolves allowed the Hornets to shoot 49.4% from the field and 42.3% from three, and allowed the Hornets to 29 free throws. But Howard was ridiculous Monday night. Howard scored 25 points on 10 shots, going 9-14 from the free throw line, and pulled down 20 rebounds, six offensively, and blocked four shots.

2. The Wolves had 40 points off of the bench, but three players reached double figures for the Hornets, as Frank Kaminsky scored 24, Cody Zeller scored 10 and Jeremy lamb scored 16.

3. The Wolves offense then struggled mightily as they shot 41.1% from the field and once again was very poor from beyond the arc, as they went 6-27 from the three-point line. Taj Gibson only scored 1 point and pulled down only six rebounds, Andrew Wiggins missed all his three-point shots, and went 5-14 from the field for only 11 points, and Jimmy Butler scored only 14 points on 6-15 from the field.
