UPDATE: 72-year-old missing Austin man found in basement

UPDATE: The Austin man, who had been missing since Monday, was found in his basement.

According to Austin Police Chief, Brian Krueger, said, Dennis Hanson was found in his basement at 4:58 p.m. When searchers found Hanson, they said he appeared disoriented.

Prior to being found on Thursday, Hanson was last seen at 6:45 a.m. Monday at his home, according to Austin Police. His family reported him missing, prompting both police and numerous members of the community to search for him.

After days of unsuccessful searches, police and searchers decided to start from the beginning and do a thorough check of the house. It was during this search that Hanson was located. Police said it is unknown at this time if Hanson was in the basement the entire time.

Hanson was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System.

The Austin Police Department says officers located Dennis Hanson at his Austin home at 4:58 p.m. Thursday. He was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System, but his condition is unknown.

Michele Olsen, who says she's Hanson's daughter, posted the following message on Facebook.

My dad has been found alive!! Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support and search efforts.

Investigators believed he was alone and on foot because his vehicle was still at his home.
