Mayo Clinic research: Some doctors avoid mental health care

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -

Physician licensing laws could be keeping a lot of doctors from taking care of themselves.

Mayo Clinic research shows that some doctors are avoiding mental health care from burnout or other emotional issues due to concern for their license.

Licensing requirements often include questions about past mental health treatments, with implications that they may limit a doctor's right to practice medicine.

The findings appeared in Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
