3 LeMars residents charged with forgery, theft

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Department of Public Safety says three LeMars residents have been charged with felony forgery and misdemeanor theft.

In a news release, the department says 29-year-old Brittany Anne Derby and 27-year-old Jackelen Danielle Hartsock were arrested on Wednesday. A third person, 26-year-old Kurt Walter Jones, was arrested Friday.

Investigators say the three were seen making and attempting transactions with counterfeit bills at Sioux City's Hard Rock Casino on Aug. 5.

Authorities say both Derby and Hartstock have been arrested before. Derby previously pleaded guilty of theft in 2009, and Hartstock pleaded guilty to felony forgery, theft and identity theft in 2012.

It was not clear Saturday whether the three had attorneys.
