(KTTC) -

This week's Throwback Thursday takes us to the farm, where farmers harvest their wheat crop in the early 1900s.

This photo from the History Center of Olmsted County perfectly captures a day in the life of the many farmers in Olmsted County who relied on these harvests to make a living.

Various men are standing on top of bails of wheat as steam engines run the threshing machines.

The process of threshing loosens the edible part of the grain from the scaly chaff that surrounds it.

This large operation also required several horses to take the grain from the threshing site to storage in barns or silos.
