The 2016 Minnesota State Fair is in full swing in Falcon Heights, and for our very first Throwback Thursday with the help of the History Center of Olmsted County, we're taking a look back at how the State Fair has changed since 1907.

In the photo attached to this story, you can see the Olmsted County Horticulture Booth run by a man named John Clinton Gray. You can see all the vegetables and other produce all around the three men, wearing their best State Fair hats and three piece suits.

In the picture, you can get a feel for the main attractions of the state fair in its beginning years -- agriculture. The fair's main goal years ago was to promote farming in Minnesota. Today, agriculture remains a large portion of the fair, though it has grown to incorporate many attractions that draw a variety of people from around the state. Now, fairgoers not only look forward to the animals and plants, but also entertainment, rides and, of course, plenty of food.

1907 was just the 48th year of the Minnesota State Fair. It got its start just one year after Minnesota became a state.
