ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -

On the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, people in Rochester reflected on the tragedy.

At St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a special "blue mass" took place in the afternoon. First responders, including officers from Rochester and Kasson as well as Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgeson, were honored during the mass.

Bishop John Quinn of the Diocese of Winona spoke during the mass and expressed gratitude for the jobs that first responders do.

"Our first responders, they're there to love us even though they don't know us," said Bishop Quinn They're there to take care of our lives and to lay down their own, to love us more then they love themselves."

In addition to honoring first responders, churchgoers also sang hymns.
