10 Who Make a Difference - Harry Kerr

A veteran himself, Harry Kerr knows the need to take care of those in need. He's one of KTTC and United Way of Olmsted County's 10 Who Make a Difference award recipients.

Kerr has been volunteering for the Zumbro Valley Health Center for more than 15 years. But this past fall he led a committee to build them a kitchen.

Since then he and his group have been helping the homeless veterans in our area.

For him, it's not about the recognition, it's about just helping out those in need.

"And whenever you can help, it's giving back," Kerr said. "I got taught a long time ago that you payback the community and people that help you, and pay forward and you don't need awards and medals for that."

Kerr says that 20 percent of the homeless population in town are veterans.

Kerr will be recognized, along with the other 10 Who Make a Difference award recipients on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Slatterly Park.
