The holidays are well behind us and the magic of wintertime seems to have faded, as the cold, windy days feel as if they are dragging on. But warmer months are not far into the future, and we're dreaming of sunshine. Here are just a few events to look forward to as we brave the last stretches of snow and ice:

38th Annual Fools Five Road Race - April 3: Held each year in Lewiston, the 1-mile and 8K race is all about finding a cure for cancer and helping the people who are living through it. Click here for more.

Twins Home Opener - April 11: The Minnesota Twins will open up their home season at Target Field against the Boston White Sox. Click here for more.

100 Mile Garage Sale - May 5-8: The annual event is a popular one for bargain hunters, and features 100 miles of garage sales from neighborhoods in Winona, all the way to Prescott, Wisconsin. Click here for more.

Tree Town Music Festival - May 26-29: This will be the third year for the music festival in Forest City, Iowa. The four-day festival features some of country music's most popular singers. Headliners will include Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw and Sam Hunt. Click here for more.

Foster Arend opens - May 30: A popular place to take a dip during the summer months, Foster Arend beach typically opens Memorial Day weekend and remains open through Labor day weekend. Click here for more.

Start of SkiDox Water Ski Team season - May 30: The SkiDox Water Ski season draws an audience at Fisherman's Inn on Lake Zumbro from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. Many of the team's members have gone on to perform in Tommy Bartlett shows and at Sea World. Click here for more.

First Rochester Honkers home game - June 1: The Honkers will begin their home season against Eau Claire at Mayo Field at the start of June. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Click here for more.

Pine Island Cheese Fest - June 3-5: Cheese lovers flock to Pine Island for the annual festival, featuring foods like cheese steaks, cheese cubes, and of course, cheese curds. Click here for more.

First Thursdays on First and 3rd - June 2: Rochesterites can find weekly entertainment, crafts and food on 1st Avenue SW and Peace Plaza each Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through August 25. Click here for more.

Viola Gopher Count - June 16: Watch out, gophers! They're coming for your feet! It will be the 142nd year for the tradition that began as a way of getting rid of gophers infesting local hay fields. The $2 bounty on each pair of gopher feet is paid out during the festival on the third Thursday in June each year. Click here for more.

Rochesterfest - June 18 - June 26: This year's theme "Fun For Everyone" captures the vision of the annual Rochester festival. Highlights include a parade, treasure hunt, food and entertainment. Click here for more.

4th of July: Summer is well underway as Independence Day is recognized and celebrated with parades, barbecues and fireworks all across the country.

RAGBRAI - July 23-30: Riders of the 43rd Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa will pedal from Glenwood to Muscatine on this year's route crossing the southern portion of the state. Click here for more.
