(KTTC/CNN) - Skywatchers got a show in the heavens late Sunday night into Monday morning in the form of a supermoon total lunar eclipse.

The sun, earth and a full moon appeared in a straight line, making the moon appear much brighter than usual and red in some places.

A lunar eclipse and supermoon at the same time is relatively rare. The last one was in 1982. It won't happen again until 2033.

The supermoon lunar eclipse was visible from most of the Americas, Greenland, Western Europe, Western Africa and parts of Antarctica.

We had a great view of it here in southeast Minnesota. Thank you to all of our viewers who sent us photos of this rare show!
