10 Who Make a Difference: Nancy Allsen

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) - Nancy Allsen has been giving back to the community for more than 10 years, and her teammates describe her as dedicated woman with a giving heart. That's why Allsen is one of our KTTC/United Way of Olmsted County 10 Who Make a Difference award recipients.

The United Way of Olmsted County has nearly 9,000 volunteers, and the director said Allsen has a lot to do with how many people have decided to volunteer for the organization.

Allsen's main job at Unity Way is to help recruit volunteers through Get Connected, but has dedicated countless hours to helping in wherever else she is needed.

Allsen maintains the volunteer column in the Rochester Post Bulletin, takes part in Running Start for schools which provides children in need of back packs and school supplies, and the Winter Outerwear Initiative to name a few.

"I think people are grateful especially running start, winter outerwear," Allsen said. "People truly appreciate what you do for them when they get a winter coat and they don't have mittens and gloves, it means a lot to people and it matters."

Allsen said she hopes others will join her in giving back to the community. She went on to say she will continue to volunteer and dedicate her time and energy as long as she's making a difference.
