10 Who Make a Difference: Bob and Bunny Yanish

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -  They are described as a couple that embraces their role as community leaders and serve with a positive and contagious attitude. For that reason, Bob and Bunny Yanish, are recipients of our KTTC/United Way of Olmsted County 10 Who Make a Difference award.

The Rochester Salvation Army nominated Bob and Bunny for their countless hours helping those in need. In fact, they initiated, staffed and funded the first evening meal program at Salvation Army which now serves up to 100 meals each week.

The Rochester Perkins Restaurant owners said Bob and Bunny want to make sure no one in our community goes hungry, and that everyone feels welcome.

"There are people who need a lunch or dinner, or weeks worth of food at the food shelf," Bob said. "Or someone who just needs a smile, or someone to talk to."

"You treat everyone with respect, and you love them all," Bunny said. "They just want someone to be there for them, and listen to them."

Bob and Bunny said they believe in the many organizations they support, including the Salvation Army, and always work to help build up the employees, volunteers and clients served. They also helped organize the Harvest Festival and Taste of the Town.

For all they do, we are happy to honor Bob and Bunny for making a difference. You can meet the couple and the other recipients at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Soldiers Field Park.
