ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Hundreds of people came together Monday morning to celebrate the legacy and teachings that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. left behind, and 40 years after his death the message of hope still carries on.

The 20th annual "We Have a Dream" breakfast was held at the DoubleTree about 7:30 a.m.  The breakfast was hosted by the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce as well as the Rochester NAACP.

This year's keynote speaker was Kedrick Adkins, the Chief Financial Officer for Mayo Clinic who spoke about change as an individual and change within the community, and the importance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Rob Miller, the President of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, talked about change in our own community.

"If we're going to be a Destination Medical Center, I think it's important that we show by our actions diversity and inclusiveness," said Miller. Not just talk about it, not just make lip service but to really do it. And I think events like these are helpful."

Rhythm Nation also gave musical, poetry and dance performances at the sold out event.
