Beach Access Dispute

HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (AP) -- With the cold and bitter snow here in Rochester, I'm thinking pictures of California beaches are in order.

Only, controversy continues to surround a beautiful one on Half Moon Bay.

Outdoor lovers are taking on the ultimate beach battle: the right to surf. State authorities say they will ask venture capitalist Vinod Khosla to open financial talks over public access to Martins Beach at Half Moon Bay. The San Francisco Bay-area billionaire bought beachfront property there in 2008, and closed an access road to a beach loved by many, young and old.

A local judge last month ordered Khosla to reopen the beach access road. Local surfers say the beach is now accessible again on occasion.

Don't you wish we had one of these in Rochester right now?
