Minnesota State Patrol trooper facing three charges in Cannon Falls crash that killed elderly couple

 RED WING, Minn. (KTTC) -- A grand jury in Goodhue County has indicted a Minnesota State Patrol trooper on two counts of Manslaughter in the Second Degree in the deaths of an elderly couple last July 4 in Cannon Falls.  Trooper Scott Reps will also face a charge of Failure to Drive with Due Care.

The secret grand jury indictment was handed down after days of testimony that began December 16 to review the crash that killed Geneva Scott, 79, and her husband Norman, 78.  At the time of the crash, the trooper was responding to a reported collision between a deer and a motorcycle.

Trooper Reps made his first court appearance on Tuesday and is next scheduled to appear in Goodhue County District Court on February 20.  The grand jury decided against indicting the officer on two counts of Criminal Vehicular Homicide.
