December 24: Cornflake Wreaths

Submitted By: Melanie Zickrick

These are my family's favorite holiday treat. My mom used to make these when we were kids every year.

1 box plain cornflakes

2 bags mini marshmallows

1 stick of butter

Green food coloring

Red hots or red m&ms

Parchment paper

Melt butter and marshmallows down until completely melted. Add food coloring. Cake decorating coloring works best but regular food coloring will do as well and may take more to get a better green. Mix with the cornflakes until they are all coated. Drop by large spoonfuls onto parchment paper.

Use your hand or a tablespoon to shape them into wreaths (must work quickly !). Use butter or coconut oil on your hands or the spoon to keep it from sticking. Add the red hots or m&ms right way so they will stick. Completely cool and store with the parchment paper between layers so they don't stick together.
