Grandma Betty's coffee cake for brunch!! Yum. This is a family favorite and everyone that visits wants it for breakfast!! Enjoy!
Cream 1 cup butter or crisp butter flavor with 1 3/4 cup white sugar , adding 4 eggs, one at a time slowly together. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla clear( but I use Mexican real stuff as in photo!) to mixture.
In a separate bowl add 3 cups flour, 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix and then slowly add into creamed mixture in mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed for about a minute or so, till thou roughly mixed and fluffy.
With a spatula, spoon all but 2 cups or so onto greased 10x15 shallow sheet pan. Spread evenly.
Take one can of wilderness cherry pie filling and spoon drop fulls all over. Try to evenly disperse in lumps so all pieces have some cherry.
Spoon drop fulls of remaining mixture in between cherries.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
While baking, mix together 2 cups powdered sugar with 3 tablespoons milk and three tablespoons vanilla.
Let cool 5-10 minutes from oven and drizzle frosting all over.
