Deer Hunters head out for Firearm Season A in Minnesota

Posted:
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Firearm season for deer hunters opened with a bang Saturday morning as hunters all across the region braved the strong winds to try and bag a buck.

Deer Firearm Season A lasts for over two weeks, but for hunters opening day is like Christmas morning.  Steve Burke of Kasson started getting his gear ready around 3:30 AM, and arrived near Rochester about an hour later.  Burke was one of the lucky hunters to bag his first buck of the year on his first try out.

"Well I was sitting there freezing to death, and usually the bucks like to walk into the wind so they can smell.  This one was walking with the wind at about 8:30 AM all alone, and I was able to take him," says Burke.

He headed back out to bring the nine-point buck back to his truck before continuing to hunt.  Deer Firearm Season A will carry on until the 23rd of November.
