ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Rochester is in the midst of a 6 billion dollar economic development initiative. And Destination Medical Center leaders and planners want to make sure they're moving that plan in the right direction.

Last week, I followed the group through Seattle and Bellevue, Washington after a stop through Portland, Oregan. This week, Devin Bartolotta is following them in Cleveland, Ohio.

The goal is to check out economic development projects that work, and bring some of that insight back to Rochester. DMC officials say they plan to implement lessons learned into the DMC vision during the next 20 years.

Today, the group is touring all of Cleveland, including university hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic. They will also tour an urban technology park and downtown districts in Indianapolis.

The trip costs are covered by this year's DMC budget. Look for special reports in November about the impact of these trips on Rochester.
