Workout honors victim of fatal car accident

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)--Friends of a 20-year-old Dodge Center man who was killed in a car accident last week hosted a workout fundraiser for his family on Saturday.

Troy Sahr was killed when his Honda Civic rear-ended a Dodge Ram pulling a trailer on September 15. The crash happened on eastbound Highway 14 west at 7th Street Northwest. Sahr worked at Crossfit Credence in Rochester where more than 40 people came out to remember him at the fundraiser.

“He was super talented in what he did and a lot of kids looked up to him because he could do all these amazing things at such a young age and he had so much knowledge in Crossfit,” said friend and co-worker, Heather Demmer.

Participants in the workout faced unique cross-fit challenges at the fundraiser. Every number of reps at the various stations represented a significant number in Troy's young life. Gym members completed 94-bicep curls (one of Troy's favorite workouts) to represent the year he was born.

Proceeds from the event were donated to Troy's family. The event raised hundreds of dollars in his memory. Crossfit Credence is hosting a second workout fundraiser on October 25 to raise money for Troy's memorial fund.
