Goodhue woman arrested after parking in middle of highway and biting deputy

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Goodhue woman was arrested after deputies said she parked in the middle of the highway and bit a deputy.

Detective Kirby Long of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said a state trooper discovered a car stopped in the middle of Highway 52 just north of Interstate 90 about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Long said the woman inside refused to roll down her window, and was breaking things with pliers. When she eventually moved to the shoulder, the trooper broke a window and pulled her out. Long said the woman resisted arrest and bit a deputy's arm twice, drawing blood.

The 29-year-old Goodhue woman was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus where she could eventually get a psychological evaluation.

Long said the woman admitted to taking methamphetamine and could be charged for assaulting an officer.
