Last Thursdays on First and Third canceled due to rain

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- It's a disappointing end to a summer tradition in Rochester.
The last Thursdays on First was canceled Thursday afternoon because of the weather.

Vendors did have the opportunity to back out today before the event even got started because of the forecast for rain, and there were a few that took that option.
However, many tried to tough out the rain, but even though vendors were roughing it out guests were not.
Rochester Downtown Alliance officials say once it became clear they would not be able to get the musical acts on stage, and after taking feedback from the vendors, they canceled the rest of the event.

"We knew we were probably going to be expecting rain, but we were trying to do what we can with this being the last Thursdays on First and Third to make the event happen, but we've been seeing heavy rain throughout the day, and after kind of knowing what the forecast was for this evening, if it continues like this we wouldn't have a pocket to get performers on.," said Jenna Bowman, the executive director of the RDA.

Bowman says they've seen great support from the community throughout the year for Thursdays on First, and even though its over now, they encourage everyone to take the time to get downtown.
