SLIDESHOW: Minnesota State Fair

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (KTTC) -- Thousands of people will travel to Falcon Heights as the Minnesota State Fair gets underway Thursday morning.

If you're looking to do the Minnesota State Fair on a budget this year, Thursday is the day to go. It's Thrifty Thursday and admission is $2 cheaper for adults and kids. Along with the usual favorites, there's a lot of new stuff to check out this year. There are eight new carnival rides, an extreme canines stunt dog show, and a bonanza shooting gallery. Another new feature is a free rodeo style show called Bull Riders of America.

From parking to admission, everything will cost about a dollar more this year.  After years of keeping prices flat, adults will pay $13 to get in. The cost is $11 for kids and seniors. Children ages five and under get in free.

As for parking, fair officials say to expect to pay about a dollar more than you did last year as well.

Gates open at 10 a.m. Look for full-coverage Thursday on the NewsCenter at noon, five and six.
