Gas prices remain abnormally low

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Gas prices have remained abnormally low for this time of year.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular is $3.31 in Rochester.

GasBuddy's chief oil analyst said most Iraqi oil comes from Baghdad and other regions in the south of the country. Those areas have not come under attack because ISIS fighting has been concentrated in the north. But the biggest factor keeping prices at American pumps from spiking is U.S oil production. America put out a little more than 13.6 million barrels of oil per day in the second quarter of this year, which is up 50 percent from 2009.
