(HealthDay News) -- You know you need to get your kids off the couch for some exercise, but do you know why physical activity is so essential?

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains these health benefits of regular exercise:

Developing stronger bones.
Reducing blood pressure.
Decreasing stress and anxiety.
Improving self-esteem.
Helping to manage weight.
