Teens steal car and crash it into tree in northwest Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Three teenagers are blamed for stealing a car from downtown Rochester and then driving it into a tree.

Rochester police said three teenage boys were in downtown Rochester late Monday night and found a van with its keys inside left outside the downtown Mosque. The van was property of the Mosque, according to the report.

Police said the boys stole the vehicle, speeding and driving erratically, eventually losing control and slamming into a tree at Seventh Street and Fourth Avenue Northwest.

Officers eventually found the three heading near Fifth Street and Seventh Avenue Northwest.

One teen was treated for a non-life-threatening head injury

Charges are pending.
