LA CROSSE, Wis. (KTTC/WXOW) -- The La Crosse County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the I-90 crash victim as Jason Songer, 29, of La Crescent.

Thursday morning shortly before 8, the Wisconsin State Patrol said traffic had slowed down in the eastbound lane as drivers funneled into the construction zone.  From their early investigation, the trooper said a dump truck didn't slow down and struck Songer's car from behind, which in turn caused a chain reaction.  The Town of Campbell Fire Department said the crash caused the dump truck to go over the top of Songer's vehicle and burst into flames.

The fire department said four other vehicles were struck during the collision.  Two victims were entrapped in separate vehicles and had to be extracted by the fire department.  The fire department said the female victim had life-threatening injuries and the male victim had non life threatening injures.  Both were transported to a local hospital.  Their names have not been released at this time.

The interstate was shut down for several hours as emergency officials investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
