Rochester residents scream for ice cream

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- An excuse for ice cream lovers to indulge in another scoop or two as Sunday marked National Ice Cream Day.

Whether you like it in a cone or a cup, nothing says summer quite like ice cream and folks across Rochester were out celebrating the unofficial holiday at Flapdoodles Ice Cream Sunday afternoon.

President Ronald Reagan declared the month of July National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day in 1984.

Flapdoodle's owner Matt Tierney called the icy indulgence a timeless treat.

"Ice cream doesn't go in fads and ups and downs," he said. "It is an American treat that has stood the test of time and it is just very satisfying."

Flapdoodle's best-selling ice cream flavors include cookie dough, chocolate peanut butter, and coffee chip.
