UPDATE: Fire causes $20,000 in damage to building at Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch

STEWARTVILLE, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday a fire caused up to $20,000 in damage to a building at Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch in Stewartville.

A cook at the ranch noticed the smell of smoke about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and saw that the warming house at the snow tubing hill was on fire.

Ranch employees used a garden hose to contain the fire and the Stewartville Fire Department responded and put the fire out in about 45 minutes.

Steve Caskey is the manager of the Miracle Lodge at Ironwood Springs. He said no children were around because the building is only used during the winter months.

"All of our kids, we cleared them," said Caskey. "They were on the other side of camp for our chuck wagon dinner that we do for dinner here at camp, and this is a winter only space or building. We have our tow rope on either side and our tubing hill. So this isn't a summer area that we use for kids."

No injuries were reported but the roof of the building was heavily damaged.
