10 Who Make a Difference: Erin Rahman

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The administrative assistant at Friedell Middle School will receive a "10 Who Make a Difference" award.
Erin Rahman works hard throughout the school year to help students succeed in class and overcome obstacles. Ten years ago Rahman developed the program called "Random Acts" in which faculty and staff give every student a gift on the last day of school before winter break. The gifts may be small, but they let students know that they're important and that teachers and staff are eager to see them after break.

"One of the most important things that I've learned about working with middle school kids is they're just excited. They're excited to be grown up. They're often feeling a bit more grown up than perhaps the rest of us think they are. But they're also, they're still kids and it's a really neat time because they kind of try out some new things. And it's just so important to help them figure out who they are," said Rahman.

Rahman's efforts have helped many students. When she sees a need, she's quick to find a solution.
