10 Who Make a Difference: Pam Mathiason

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- An organization called Community Food Response is making big gains in the fight against hunger in Rochester.

CFR is a non-profit volunteer led organization that provides free meals to people in need. Pam Mathiason is a volunteer board member and information technology specialist credited with bringing CRF into the modern age.

Mathiason collaborated with other organizations in creating an information sharing system where clients can use a single card at multiple agencies and all the data is centralized.
Mathiason said it was a year-long journey of establishing partnerships, research, design, implementation and training. But she said "helping others" is in her blood.

"I was raised in a family where we helped others and always volunteered," said Mathiason. "It's just always been a part of my life and I find this really satisfying to provide food to people."

CFR food donations come from area restaurants, grocery stores and businesses that would otherwise throw the food away. The meals are fresh - delivered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and are free with no questions asked.

Because of her hard work, dedication and passion, Mathiason is being honored as one of our "10 Who Make a Difference."
