Posted: Updated:
ROCK FALLS, Iowa (KTTC) -- A Mason City man pulled from the Shell Rock River over the weekend has died.

According to the Cerro Gordo Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Camp at the Woods near Rock Falls for an unresponsive man in the river at about 8 p.m. Saturday.

The man, identified as Donald Bakken,79, of Mason City, had been pulled under water while tubing.

The Globe Gazette reports Bakken was taken to Mercy Medical Center in critical condition where he died.

Officials say high water levels may have been a factor.
