OMCRF hosts annual Croquet Field Day on the green

Posted: Updated:
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Plenty of people grabbed their mallets and wickets for a day of friendly competition on the croquet course.

The Olmsted Medical Center Regional Foundation hosted its annual Croquet Field Day event Sunday at Rochester Golf and Country Club.  In the event, competitors dressed for the contest and faced off in support of women's health services at Olmsted Medical Center.

The event is in its fifth year running, and since it began, the event has raised more than $160,000.  Those funds go to support the new Women's Health Center set to open this October.

"It will be wonderful for women's health," said Dr. Linda Williams of Olmsted Medical Center. "We have a new birth center and new women's imaging services and a lot of other additional services so we can provide some new things for women in southeast Minnesota. It will be a great change for us."

The tournament welcomed both novice and experienced amateur players. All teams played for a grand prize and were treated to a brunch buffet. Teams competed not only for the sake of the sport, but for an outfit contest as well.  The event was sponsored by OMC President, Dr. Kathryn Lombardo and her husband, Phil, and OB/GYN department chair, Dr. Kim McKeon and her husband, Preston.
